Item/Description: Breathtakingly gorgeous, highly cross-collectible antique Victorian diecut wall pocket that beautifully “marries” a Niagara Falls travel souvenir with a General Store advertising collectible piece.
***Wall pocket is made up of textured paper decoratively sprinkled with “sparkles” and embossed with 3-dimensional raised relief imagery that charmingly depicts: A mother and her two children standing on an overlook/observation tourist bridge in front of the Niagara Falls (Canadian side or New York side - it’s up to you whichever side you want it to be) ;~). Mom is holding a sun parasol/umbrella, and all are attired in charming period clothing turn-of-the-century costumes.
One of the rocks/stones adjacent to the Falls is marked "Niagara Falls," while on the expandable pocket portion of the diecut is this promotional wording for the general store merchant’s business: "Compliments of J. M. Johnson Dealer in General Merchandise, Orion, Illinois.".
*** Photo truly does not do this item justice!
Age/Period: Antique - ca. 19th Century (late-1800s) to early 20th Century (early-1900s).
Material(s)/Format: Die-cut paper.
Size/Measurements: Just over 15 ½"W x just over 15"H
Condition: Die-cut has remained in excellent condition, retaining vivid coloration and evincing only a normal, not-unusual modicum of surface creases and paper rubbing to corners and edges.
