Item/Description: Full-plate 6 ½” x 8 ½”" antique 1800s (19th Century) hand-colored/handpainted tintype ancestor portrait photographic image of a Victorian-era (? Civil War time period) elegantly, fashionably and formally-attired lovely young woman/girl/lady posing oh-so-seriously and ever-so-primly and properly in her finest “Sunday best” clothing dress.
Age/Period: Antique - ca 1853-1880s (1800s, 19th Century)
Manufacturer/Identification/Markings: Attribution consists of the initials “LMH” (most likely the photographer’s initials, possibly those of his portraiture subject) handwritten along lower front edge, immediately following the numbers “76_88" (third number is fairly indecipherable).
Material(s)/Format: Tintype (tin type), a/k/a ferrotype, photographic image
Size/Measurements: Full-plate measuring 6 ½"W x 8 ½”H
Quantity: One (1)
Condition: Both condition and coloration/colorizing/colorization of tintype remain exquisitely exceptional, likely the result of its having been protectively preserved under glass and within a frame all these many years (when we first acquired this photo, it was framed)!
