...The church was founded after a revival by Charles Dyer with 90 charter members. HSBC (High Street Baptist Church) helped establish Baptist Bible College in 1950 by providing classroom space for the school in their facility which was located close to the current BBC (Baptist Bible College) campus. High Street has been associated with the Baptist Bible Fellowship International since its inception and is a supporter of many BBFI (Baptist Bible Fellowship International) missionaries. Since the time they were established, they have seen over 35 missionary families sent out from the church to the foreign field. Today over 100 missionaries are supported by High Street Baptist Church
In 1978 the building at 900 N. Eastgate was completed and worship and meetings moved to that location but they retained the name that was synonymous with ministry in Springfield. The members and staff invite former worshipers and the community to join them in remembering the last 75 years, but they are not content to stop there....”
“High Street Baptist Church (Springfield, Mo.) Yearbook 1952: High Street Baptist Church was organized as the High Street Fundamental Baptist Church on 19 April 1936 by the Rev. Charles W. Dyer. In 1941 the Rev. William E. Daniel was ap-pointed pastor. By June 1952 the congregation had over 4,500 members and occupied a new auditorium adjacent to the original church building at High and Prospect streets in northeast Springfield.
