Item/Description: Vintage ca 1940s-1950s Smith Crafted Chicago candy/cookies tin with fabulous raised relief nature/wildlife lid imagery depicting three (3) water fowl birds (ducks/mallards/geese) gracefully emerging from marshy water filled with reeds, their wings realistically flapping, as they prepare to take off in elegant flight.
***Colors utilized are not only visually stunning but they also beautifully offset the handsome, masculine faux wood lid backdrop.
***Interior of tin box and lid is a gorgeous, warm copper color, unlike the typical silver metal typically used for tins.
***Lid has a “padded” feel to it, and when viewed from its underside one can see a key-hole like opening that shows there is “space”/”air” between the upper part of the lid and the interior underside of the lid.
Age/Period: Vintage - ca 1940s-1950s
Manufacturer/Identification/Markings/Country of Origin: Underside of tin is embossed with this raised relief identifying information: “Smith Crafted Chicago”.
Material(s)/Format: Body and cover are coppery-colored tin with wooden veneer overlay.
Size/Measurements: 10 1/4" in diameter
Quantity: One (1)
Condition: Overall excellent, with raised relief decorative imagery remaining vividly crisp and colorful. Noted condition factors are as follows: there is a slightly raised 3/8" bump on the upper left section of the lid adjacent to the edge which appears to be a “from-the-factory” issue and thus not a technical flaw; also on the lid are two (2) thin line marks (one measures 1", the other 1 1/4" in length), that may or may not be part of the original faux wood grain design. They are slightly deeper in color than the other areas of “faux wood grain”, and are being mentioned for purposes of accuracy, though they may not even be condition factors at all, and in no way diminish any of the charm or aesthetic appeal of this nostalgically retro and classic tin!
