Condition Summary (kindly also refer to “Grading Scale” below as well as any/all photos): Book is in very good+ (bordering near fine) condition, with a near fine dust jacket. A lovely crisp copy!
Condition Details/Specifics: All pages are present and intact (there are none missing, torn or loose), and they are crisp, sharp-cornered, bright and clean, exhibiting no: corner folds or creases; previous owner’s marks; bookplates; writing; notes; marginalia; highlighting; age toning/coloration; foxing; markings; water damage; staining; or odors of any kind. The beautifully illustrated and brilliantly colored dust jacket as well as the bright red & black cover boards and spine retain vibrant “as new” coloration, with the dust jacking having well and fully-protected the book all these years. The book exhibits no shelf edge wear, nor does the unclipped dust jacket. The binding remains tight. This book has been very well-cared for and only very gently handled, making this is a nice copy of a very sought-after, desirable book!
Noted minor defects are as follows (kindly also refer to photos): There is an approximately 1/4"-sized ding/dent/indentation in the outer fore-edge area of the front cover portion of the dust jacket that is also apparent on the book beneath it, approximately 4" down from the top edge of the book. The hinge areas inside both the front and back covers are borderline “starting” in that bits of white are becoming visible in between the pastedown endpapers and the free endpapers (more so on the front cover’s hinge, less so on the back cover’s hinge).

Which means the book is better than Very Good and the dust jacket grade is less than Very Good.]

***BOOK JACKET EXCERPT: “For thousands of years, the legendary dragon has inspired awe and wonder in cultures the world over. Fearsome in strength, ferocious in appetite, yet majestic in bearing, this fabulous beast has long been a favorite subject of artists and storytellers.
Now Michael Hague, one of America’s most beloved painters of fantasy, boldly captures seventeen classic dragon tales, armed only with the magic of his paintbrush. Here beside the heroics of Perseus, St. George, and Sigurd are the adventures of the girl who slew a dragon and became queen of China, as well as the dazzling comic twists of Kenneth Grahame’s ‘The Reluctant Dragon’ and E. Nesbit’s ‘The Dragon Tamers.’ Here too are such magical authors as J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and Italo Calvino.
The mythical dragon will be very real indeed for all who read these enchanting tales and pore over the twenty full-color and sixteen black-and-white illustrations. Michael Hague’s art has never breathed more fire.”
