Item/Description: Vintage ca. 1920s-1930s black memorabilia miniature bisque strung/jointed baby doll figurine marked “Japan”.
***Doll is an adorable baby girl with oh-so-round, wide awake and aware eyes and a pursed closed mouth.
Her “hair” consists of triple-strands of pink strings/ribbons tied up into multiple pigtails/ponytails, and her clothing consists of a darling diaper made of a gunny-sack/burlap-like material that is safety-pinned together.
Age/Period: Vintage - ca. 1920s-1930s
Manufacturer/Identification/Markings: Her upper back, in between her shoulder blades, is incised “Japan”.
Material(s): Ceramic bisque.
Condition: Excellent, evincing no noted nicks, chips, cracks, breaks, crazing or repairs, and exhibiting only a smattering of the tiniest, pin prick-sized, intermittently situated paint rubs/loss. Though her lips do retain a bit of red paint, the majority is uncolored. Being noted for purposes of accuracy, although not technically a “condition” issue, is the existence of a bit of “from-the-factory” lightening/transparency to the black bisque paint on the concealed inside parts of her arms beneath where they hug the sides of her body.
