Item/Description: Vintage 1976 mint-in-box, never-used Hamilton Mint’s "The Official American Revolution Bicentennial Planner of the Nation’s Capital - Historical Tribute to the 50 States - with Official Medallion” boxed book and medal commemorative set, with Certificate of Authenticity (COA) - 1976 edition.
***One side of coin depicts the raised-relief surface imagery of the Washington Monument and contains the legend/wording “Washington D.C. - A Model To the Nation”. The other side of the coin contains the graphic & wording “76 DCBC”.
***As desirable a collectible as this Planner & Medallion set already are by virtue of their United States Bicentennial historical commemorative status, this set is also quite cross-collectible as an advertising memorabilia item, given that the Planner has been personalized with gold-embossing on its inside front cover with the wording "Northrop Electronics Division" as keepsake gifts for their Northrop Corporation defense company/industry employees.
Certificate of Authenticity (COA) Information: Certificate of Authenticity. The Official Mint of the District of Columbia Bicentennial Commission.
The Hamilton Mint hereby certifies that this commemorative was minted from the award winning official design chosen by the District of Columbia Bicentennial Commission and each medal is one and one-half inches in diameter.
The medal originally accompanying this certificate was designed by District High School student, Ms. Sylvia Tapscott, winner of the design competition and sculptured in bas-relief by the master craftsmen of The Hamilton Mint to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the United States.
