Item/Description: Vintage "Viennese Confectioner, 19th Century" Alte Handwerkskunst Handicrafts of the Olden Days limited edition cabinet plate/collector plate, made in Western Germany.
***This vibrantly and exquisitely colorful plate charmingly depicts the sweetly nostalgic imagery of Nineteenth Century patrons in an old-fashioned confectioner’s shop/confectionary shop/candy shop (delightfully reminiscent of the scenes and characters in a Jane Austen novel).
This plate was part of a series of plates consisting of a total of six (6) plates depicting a variety of mercantile-themed scenic imagery from different centuries throughout history.
Age/Period: Vintage - ca 1960s-1980s
*Plate is marked on the back side “Alte Handwerkskunst; Handicrafts of the Olden Days; Artisanat D’Autrefois Wiener Zuckerbacker 19. Jahrhundert; Viennese Confectioner, 19th Century; Patissier Viennois 19eme Siecle; Design/Entwurf Prof. Wiedemann; Limitierte Auflage (? Limited Edition); golf”
***PLEASE NOTE: The box that accompanies this plate, though perfectly fitted to accommodate and safely store this plate, is NOT the box that originally came with or matches this plate. It is the box to another plate in this same series (Historical Armourer, 13th Century), however because the plates all originally came in the same type of box, that is why the “fitted interior” to this box so perfectly accommodates this particular plate. Thus the plate’s descriptive title wording on the back of the box, as follows, pertains to another plate in this same series:
*Box is marked on its side “Historische Waffenschmiede, 13 Jahrhundert...”, and on its back “Alte Handwerkskunst; Handicrafts of the Olden Days Artisanat D’Autrefois. Historische Waffenschmiede, 13, Jahrhundert. Historical Armourer, 13th Century. Armurerie Historique, 13EME Siecle. Design/Entwurf Prof. Wiedemann. Limitierte Auflage. Golf.” Then it proceeds to list all the plates in the respective series, with this plate referenced among them as first in the series:
*Viennese Confectioner, 19th Century (this is the plate in the series that is available for purchase)
*Tower-Clock Makers in London, 15th Century
*Stone-Masons in Venice, 14th Century
*Historical Armourer, 13th Century
*Medieval Merchants, 16th Century
*Couturier in Paris, 18th Century
Material(s)/Format: Ceramic Porcelain
Size/Measurements: 10 ˝” in diameter
Condition: Plate remains in pristine condition! Box is in very good condition.
***PLEASE NOTE: Though Plate comes with a box, it is not the original box that came with this plate. Rather, it is the box that accompanied another of the same-sized plate in this same series of plates.
