Excerpted Research Information: “The Fuller Brush Company was founded in 1906 by Alfred Carl Fuller, a Canadian businessman, for the manufacture of hairbrushes and cleaning supplies.
His mission was to save homemakers hard work and help them get better results by giving them better brushes. He listened to customers describe their specific cleaning problems, then designed and manufactured more effective, more durable brushes to solve them. Every product provided a service and enhanced the customer's quality of life
The Fuller Brush Company motto are words every business and company would do well to live by:
‘Design it to work.
Craft it to last.
Guarantee it - no matter what.‘
By the early 1920s, the Fuller Brush Salesman had achieved national celebrity, having made regular appearances in popular comic strips such as Mickey Mouse, Dagwood & Blondie, Mutt & Jeff, and Donald Duck, and even made a guest appearance in Walt Disney’s ‘Three Little Pigs’ when the Big Bad Wolf disguised himself as a Fuller Brush salesman.
By the 1940s and 1950s, his renown increased to the point of movies being made about him (as well as the Fuller Brush Girl), songs were written about him, and he was even the inspiration for Arthur Miller’s Pulitzer prize-winning play ‘Death of a Salesman’.”
